James Sloan KPAO KHAF KPAO Training flight /// Student Comment: Stalls - when you are trimmed for low airspeed and add power, the nose wants to come up and left. Keep it straight. Engine out: Airspeed Best glide - know what that sight picture looks like then trim for it Best field - think about where the wind is and how to maneuver into downwind Steep turns first not steep enough. 2nd uncoordinated and lost 200 ft. 3rd and 4th within standards. The more stable you keep bank and coordination the easier it is. Traffic awareness at non towered airports. Many ways to join the pattern. Have to be aware of where others are, how others are joining, and account for people who may not have radios or transponders Altitude management in general is terrible On final: As you slow over the runway, control inputs all have to change because of airflow over the control surfaces. Especially as you raise the nose to round out, it will yaw. Fix with rudder. If you are drifting across the centerline, fix with aileron. Moving one control will likely mean you need to move the others.. My notes:
Average Speed: 20.8kts ● Route distance: 37.4NM ● Longest Segment: 18.7NM (KPAO⬌KHAF) ● Furthest points from each other: 18.7NM (KPAO⬌KHAF)
